I took some outdoor portraits for my cousin Jenny last month. She’s a budding musician, and has a bunch of vids posted on Youtube, where she does a bunch of covers and occasionally does an original tune too. She’s getting more gigs for shows, and occasionally they ask her to provide a photo,so I offered my services. I had recently picked up an Westcott Apollo 28″ Softbox as a flash modifier, so I was pretty excited to try it out on a new victim. So The results are quite pleasing; you can see for yourself down below… It gives a nice soft light and is super easy to set up. It sets up just like a silver reflector umbrella, but it also provides better light spillage prevention while softening and evening out the light in the front. I shot these with my Nikon D700, Yongnuo RF-602 flash triggers, 85mm f/1.4D, and SB-28dx flash, triggered off camera.
